Sometimes you may want to direct your output to a file on your disk. You can then use that file to work with your output outside of Foxfire!.
Lesson Goals: You are going to send your output to a DBF file. You would use a similar method to create another type of file, such as an XML or text file.
To direct your output to a DBF file:
- From the Request Manager, copy LESSON13 by selecting it and choosing Save As from the File menu. Enter xxxLESS13 for the name (substituting your initials for xxx). See also Lesson 2: Copying a Request.
- Click the Edit icon on the toolbar to edit the Request.
- Click the Specify Output tab.
- In the Type drop-down box, click on DBF Table.
- In the Data Type drop-down box, click on FoxPro 2x DBF. There is a name box in the lower right. This is the name that will be used to save the file.
- Leave the name as xxxLESS13.DBF.
- Click the Save icon on the Design Preview toolbar.
- Click the Close icon on the Design Preview toolbar.
- Run the Request and check that the output has been sent to a xxxLESS13.DBF file in your Foxfire! output folder.
