Developers will LOVE Foxfire! for its features that
- Old installations of Foxfire! convert to v8+ in seconds with a simple upgrade utility. It works with apps as far back as v2.5 (10/08/1993)
- You can create groups of Data Items with meaningful, plain-English names using a powerful visual editor. Groups allow users to find more easily the fields they want included in a report. The groups aren’t limited by physical table boundaries
- The Relationship Manager now finds candidates and helps enter them in the join table. They are then used during Request execution to generate very sophisticated, optimized SQL queries
- You can set up alternate relationships between table pairs in Foxfire! “views” (also giving them plain English names). This lets users employ different relationships between the same tables on a Request by Request basis within the same reporting session. All without ever hearing the words “join” or “relationship”
- The new Date Item builder quickly creates virtual “partial date” items from real date fields. These can be displayed in reports, or used for more precise sorting and grouping in summary and cross-tab reports. (example: you can create virtual items for month-and-year or month-and-quarter of a particular real date field)
- A Template Editor creates custom report style-sheets, including logos, page X of Y, bit-maps for report examples, and more
- The new Event Customizer (FFCONFIG) Editor enables you to add custom processing (i.e. your own source code) to any Foxfire! event. This means you can extend or replace regular Foxfire! processes at any point during startup, a reporting session, or execution of an individual report
- The Distribution Wizard makes it easy to send a copy of Foxfire! to a remote location for quick integration with an application
- A rich, new object model makes it easy to control Foxfire! programmatically, or from your own user interface. Just point directly to the new Foxfire! Request object and you’re off and running
