Your developer or administrator will define your data items when they create the Data Dictionary for Foxfire!. As a designer, you can change the output appearance for an item. When you make changes to the appearance of an item, the changes you make will be stored in the Data Dictionary and the changes will be permanent for you and any other users who use the same Data Dictionary.

Lesson Goals: You are going to change the column headings for Stock Number.


To change the column headings:

  1. From the Request Manager, preview LESSON11.
  2. Click the X on the upper right corner of the Request Preview window to close the preview.

  3. From the Request Manager, copy LESSON10 by selecting it and choosing Save As from the File menu. Enter xxxLESS10 for the name (substituting your initials for xxx). See also Lesson 2: Copying a Request.
  4. Click the Edit icon on the toolbar to edit the Request.
  5. Click the Select Data Items tab.
  6. In the Selected Items list, right-click on Cars Stock Number.

  7. Click on Change Appearance.
  8. Change Column Header 1 to Stock.
  9. Change Column Header 2 to Number.
  10. Click Apply.
  11. Click the Save icon in the Design Preview toolbar.
  12. Click the Close icon in the Design Preview toolbar
  13. Click the Preview icon in the Request Manager toolbar.The column heading for Stock Number has been changed.
  14. Click the X on the upper right corner of the Request Preview window to close the preview
